All Saints Church, Pontefract

This was a surprising find, a church within a church. The outer ruins are of the 14th/15th century parish church which was ruined along with the Castle in the Civil War. Within it is the current parish church which dates from the 1960s. Possibly a unique structure, and rather wonderfully strange.

These heads look very new but faithful to old images.

Memorial to vicar’s families seems to be original site while others have been moved to wall.
