Facial Straps or Bandages

This is rather niche, a sort of sibling yo my green man post, but far less common. Nobody seems to know what they are or even if they are a proper set so here goes….

Hasfield St Mary unclear due to lichen but doesn’t look dead
From Knighton church. Looks either asleep or dead
From St Mary the Virgin , Cardiff. Seems an unhappy man on corbel, so is this punishment or pain?
This is from Llandaff Cathedral, in the roof with a variety of heads including a few green men.
This looks like post-death image, with cloth which seems to be holding jaws shut. From Lincolnshire
Image off centre right seems to be blowing something. Is the face bandaged or scarred?
